In 2026, the first annual goods train of the New Western Land and Sea Corridor departed from Qinzhou, Guangxi

On the morning of January 31st, a train loaded with ASEAN foods such as Vietnamese cassava starch, Indonesian shortening, and Thai coconut milk slowly departed from Qinzhou Port East Station in Guangxi, heading towards Chongqing Tuanjie Village Station, where it is expected to arrive in 48 hours. This is the first New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor freight train carrying Chinese New Year goods to depart from Guangxi in 2026, bringing the "festive atmosphere" from overseas to the Chinese New Year goods markets in western regions such as Chongqing and Chengdu, marking the beginning of the peak season for cross-border Chinese New Year goods transportation.
As the Spring Festival approaches, importing New Year goods has become a new option for people's purchases. The peak period for railway transportation of New Year goods generally precedes the peak period for passenger transportation, making it convenient for people to buy more fresh New Year goods earlier.
The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in the West serves as a major freight route connecting China's western region with ASEAN and other countries and regions. Currently, the types of goods transported have increased to over 1,300, covering 18 provinces (including autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) and reaching 584 ports in 127 countries and regions worldwide. Overseas grain, oil, food, and other products are continuously transported to China through the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in the West, enriching the domestic New Year goods market.
Hardware upgrades have also added momentum to the transportation of Spring Festival goods. On January 30th, the expansion project of the key "choke point" of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in the west - the "three stations and two sections" (Mahuang Station, Qinzhou General Speed Railway Yard, Qinzhou East General Speed Railway Yard, and the sections from Mahuang to Qinzhou and from Mahuang to Qinzhou East) in the Qinzhou area - was successfully completed. The Qinzhou railway hub was upgraded from a "single track" to a "dual track", providing a solid guarantee for the swift entry and exit of Spring Festival goods.
Since January, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor trains in the western region have transported a total of 114,000 TEUs of cargo.
