The reporter learned from the Maritime Safety Administration of the Ministry of Transport that today (December 12th), the "Container Shipping on Time Cost Reduction" route from Zhoushan Port in Ningbo, China to Ho Chi Minh Port in Vietnam was officially opened.
Ningbo Zhoushan Port is the world's largest port, with an annual cargo throughput of over 1.4 billion tons and over 800000 incoming and outgoing ships. Due to natural conditions such as narrow waterways, the waterway is busy and the traffic is complex. In 2019, the Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration in Zhejiang Province took the lead in implementing the integration of ship traffic organization in the core port area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port in China, coordinating resources such as waterways, anchorages, and pilotage, and launching a "ship timetable" with a unified plan released one day in advance. After implementation, the punctuality rate of the main channel reached 98%, and the efficiency of entering and leaving the port increased by 35%. In response to the high requirement for alignment rate in container shipping, Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration has further optimized the mechanism and launched the "Container Shipping Punctuality and Cost Reduction Plan" to improve liner alignment rate and reduce overall costs. According to the relevant person in charge of Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration, the pilot program has achieved significant results in China. Currently, 12 major coastal ports and 22 shipping companies have participated. Ningbo Zhoushan Port alone has reduced the cumulative waiting time for ships by more than 25000 hours, helping shipping companies save operating costs of over 867 million yuan.
The "Container Shipping on Time and Cost Reduction" route from Ningbo Zhoushan Port to Ho Chi Minh Port, which has been opened this time, will significantly reduce the time of ships in port and the transit cycle of goods through precise shipping schedule management, efficient port connection, and deep collaboration between port and shipping enterprises, providing customers with more timely, reliable, and economical shipping services.
