On December 9th, the "Wantiao Road Gratitude" multi-purpose ship, loaded with 134 standard containers and a cargo value of approximately 35 million yuan, sailed from the Toumen Port area of Taizhou, Zhejiang to Tanzania. This is the first time that Taizhou has opened a direct freight route to Africa.
The goods for this direct flight mainly come from an import and export company in Yiwu, including paper cups, paper bowls, light bulbs, ovens and other daily necessities. These goods will be sent to Zanzibar Island, Tanzania.
In the past, goods purchased from Yiwu market and sold to Africa had to be transshipped through multiple places such as Ningbo, Guangzhou, and even Singapore. After the opening of this direct flight route, the transportation time was reduced from 60 days to 27 days, and logistics costs were significantly reduced. The delivery time for overseas customers was greatly improved.
Di Qing, Director of the Taizhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone Management Bureau, stated that the opening of the direct flight route will effectively facilitate trade between Taizhou and African countries and regions, and also build a new international logistics channel for surrounding enterprises to "go global", promoting the high-level opening and high-quality development of the Toumen Port area.
