On the 27th, Guangzhou Port Authority announced that as of that day, Guangzhou Port has opened 181 foreign trade liner routes, 73 shuttle bus barge routes, 39 sea rail intermodal trains, and has established 60 international friendly ports.
Guangzhou Port, with a long history, is now an international hub port designated by the National Comprehensive Three dimensional Transportation Network Planning Outline. It is the largest domestic container port, the largest grain transit port, and an important automobile hub port in China. It has a unique and prominent position in the global logistics chain, supply chain, and national and regional economic and social development.
Guangzhou Port includes Guangzhou Port and Guangzhou Inland River Port. Guangzhou Neihe Port is an inland port located within the administrative area of Guangzhou City and outside the scope of Guangzhou Port. It is an important port and hub of the comprehensive transportation system in Guangdong Province's inland areas. As of now, Guangzhou Port has established 38 inland ports.
According to the "Overall Plan for Guangzhou Neihe Port (2025-2035)", Guangzhou Neihe Port will be divided into four port areas: Panyu, Wanqingsha, Wuhe, and Xintang, with a total planned port coastline of about 39 kilometers. On the basis of consolidating the existing freight functions, the plan is to add water tourism passenger transportation functions such as cruise ships and yachts, and promote the deep integration of the port city.
This plan combines the development of Guangzhou's inland river and port industries, the expansion and renovation of port enterprises, and the construction needs of major projects. It considers the complementary relationship between Guangzhou's inland river and port, and leverages the role of inland water transportation in regional economic development. It strengthens the connection with environmental protection, water conservancy, transportation and other planning, enhances the level of port shoreline planning, and optimizes and adjusts the functions of port shorelines.
In the future, Guangzhou Neihe Port will mainly focus on the transportation of industrial and agricultural raw materials and finished products, mining and construction materials, and container transportation, while also taking into account the development of automobile roll on/roll off transportation and water tourism passenger transportation functions. It will gradually develop into a comprehensive, modern, and ecological green port with functions such as river sea direct transportation, transportation organization and management, transit and reloading, modern logistics, port industry, and tourism passenger transportation services.
