At the Global Artificial Intelligence Sustainable Development Innovation Cooperation Forum held in Paris recently, Chinese and European experts stated that the two sides have strong complementarity in artificial intelligence innovation, governance, and sustainable development, and should further strengthen practical cooperation to contribute stable strength to global artificial intelligence governance.
It is reported that this forum is jointly initiated by the Artificial Intelligence Professional Committee of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce and the Zhejiang New Era Industry Finance Collaborative Innovation Research Institute, with Paris Business School and its alumni association as strategic partners. The forum focuses on topics such as global governance of artificial intelligence, sustainable development paths, industry collaboration, and ethics through keynote speeches, roundtable discussions, and other forms.
Emmanuel Goffy, a professor of artificial intelligence ethics at the É cole Polytechnique in Paris, said in an interview with reporters that there is a certain "cognitive contradiction" in Europe's emphasis on norms and complaints about insufficient development in the field of artificial intelligence. He said that Europe needs to take a more pragmatic approach to cooperation with China, and the Silk Road in history is a model for promoting long-term cooperation between the East and the West at the intersection of trade and strategic interests.
Anis Ben Mahmoud, the head of the French branch of United Robotics Group, stated that competition in the field of artificial intelligence should not be a reason to hinder cooperation. He believes that in the foreseeable future, Europe and China will rely on each other to some extent in exploring artificial intelligence technology, and cooperation will be beneficial for the common development of both sides.
In the roundtable discussion on the theme of "Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Green Energy: Innovation, Efficiency, and Governance", Gilles Henri Gallo, former French Ambassador to Nepal, stated that green economy, energy transition, smart cities, and other areas are all areas where China and Europe can carry out joint projects.
At the forum, the Artificial Intelligence Professional Committee of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecological Center of Paris Higher Business School jointly signed a memorandum of cooperation, which will promote the construction of a global artificial intelligence sustainable development innovation cooperation center in Paris and Hangzhou simultaneously.
Wang Ning, President of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce, stated that China and Europe have complementary advantages in artificial intelligence innovation, ethical governance, and industrial cooperation. China's vast application scenarios and Europe's advantages in standards, regulation, and basic scientific research are expected to form a positive interaction mechanism in the future.
