On the 25th, the Chinese Permanent Mission to Geneva held a high-level dialogue on "Artificial Intelligence for Unity and Co governance" at the Palace of Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, Chen Xu, Director General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, and UN Deputy Secretary General and Special Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies, Amandip Gill, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. More than 150 people, including permanent representatives and senior diplomats from various countries in Geneva, heads of international organizations, and think tank scholars, attended the conference in person.
In his speech, Chen Xu stated that China's proposal of the Global Governance Initiative and the Global Artificial Intelligence Governance Initiative has pointed out the direction for global governance of artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence is the common wealth of all mankind, not a game played by wealthy countries. Countries should uphold the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, adhere to innovation and openness, promote collaborative governance, uphold fairness and inclusiveness, fully leverage the role of the Geneva Platform, promote the development of artificial intelligence towards goodness and inclusiveness, and make it an international public good that benefits all mankind.
The attending parties generally emphasized that the field of artificial intelligence governance should achieve common participation, fairness and order, solidarity and cooperation, inclusiveness and action orientation, and believed that this dialogue would help promote the global governance process of artificial intelligence under the framework of the United Nations.
