Recently, the International Telecommunication Union's 2025 World Telecommunication Development Conference opened in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The attending representatives held consultations on topics such as the strategic goals of global and regional information and communication technology development, and clarified the key work of the International Telecommunication Union's telecommunications development department in the next four years.

The conference will last until November 28th, with the theme of "Achieving an Inclusive and Sustainable Digital Future through Universal, Meaningful, and Affordable Connections". More than 2400 representatives from over 160 countries, relevant international organizations, and businesses attended the conference.

Zhang Yunming, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China, led a delegation to attend the meeting and delivered a speech. He stated that China is promoting the implementation of the "Four Major Global Initiatives", actively building a community with a shared future in cyberspace, continuously accelerating innovation and popularization of information and communication technology, and making positive contributions to global digital connectivity and digital transformation through its own development and open cooperation.

During this conference, the Chinese delegation officially announced that it will run for re-election as the next member of the International Telecommunication Union and a member of the Radio Rules Committee during the 2026 Plenipotentiary Conference. The Chinese delegation is composed of more than 80 people from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan, telecommunications operation and manufacturing enterprises, scientific research institutions and other units.

The International Telecommunication Union is a United Nations agency responsible for digital technology, with 194 member countries. The World Telecommunication Development Conference is a high-level conference organized by the International Telecommunication Union with the theme of global telecommunications development, held every four years.
