On November 14th, at the China Africa Partners Conference of the "Global South" Media Think Tank High end Forum held in Johannesburg, South Africa, the report "Jointly Drawing a New Landscape of Modernization - Hunan Practice and Exploration of China Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation" was officially released. The report system summarizes the achievements of China Africa economic and trade cooperation, with a focus on showcasing the effectiveness of the construction of the China Africa Economic and Trade Deep Cooperation Pilot Zone. Among them, a series of "pioneering", "trial", and "exhibition" measures provide important practical examples for deepening South South cooperation.

As an important measure of the "Nine Projects" and "Ten Partner Actions" of China Africa cooperation, the construction of the China Africa Economic and Trade Deep Cooperation Pilot Zone is steadily advancing. Hunan, as an important carrier of the pilot zone, is active in non cooperative activities. According to statistics from Changsha Customs, in the first three quarters of 2025, Hunan Province's imports and exports to Africa amounted to 44.52 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.4%. Among them, exports amounted to 21.21 billion yuan, an increase of 8.3%; Imports amounted to 23.31 billion yuan, an increase of 31.7%.

The report shows that the pilot zone has made positive progress in mechanism innovation, pilot exploration, and model breakthroughs. In terms of "pioneering" initiatives, Hunan has taken the lead in launching the "Pre evaluation System for African Food Products Exported to China" and obtained the record from the General Administration of Customs. Based on this, a special plan has been formulated to promote the entry of various African agricultural and food products, such as Kenyan aquatic products and Rwandan dried chili peppers, into China.

In terms of "first trial", Hunan has taken the lead in launching pilot projects for non new barter trade and launching special insurance products. As of the end of October, the province has completed a cumulative amount of 204 million yuan in non new barter trade, ranking first in the country in terms of total volume. At the same time, the innovative "overseas warehouse+FTN account+local currency settlement" model has completed a trade settlement of 35 million US dollars with Nigeria.

In terms of the "first exhibition", the construction of the "African Good Products" brand has achieved significant results, helping African products expand into the Chinese market. Currently, over 120 African brand products have entered Chinese shopping malls. The "African Goods" online shopping season held in April this year showcased more than 200 products, and the African themed offline experience center "Sheikh Terminal" officially settled in Changsha.

The report points out that China has maintained its position as Africa's largest trading partner for 16 consecutive years, and its investment and engineering contracting in Africa have continued to grow, making positive contributions to Africa's development. Against the backdrop of profound changes in the global landscape, strengthening economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa is of great significance in promoting common development and advancing South South cooperation. The report suggests that both parties improve their cooperation mechanisms, deepen production capacity cooperation, innovate financial services, strengthen digital intelligence empowerment, and further enhance the level of cooperation.
