At the press conference on the 10th of the 10th anniversary of the implementation of the China Singapore (Chongqing) Strategic Connectivity Demonstration Project, which signed 347 government and commercial cooperation projects with a total amount of 26 billion US dollars and accumulated cross-border financing of 21.7 billion US dollars, China announced a series of achievements in the cooperation between the two sides over the past 10 years.

We work hand in hand with Singapore to pragmatically promote innovative cooperation, so that the project results not only serve national strategies, but also drive regional economic openness and development. The project has successfully established a new pattern of "point-to-point" docking between China (Chongqing) and Singapore, driving a new pattern of "face-to-face" cooperation between western China and ASEAN countries, "said Zhang Yongwu, Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce and Director of the Chongqing China Singapore Demonstration Project Management Bureau.

In 2015, the China Singapore (Chongqing) Strategic Connectivity Demonstration Project was officially launched, becoming the third intergovernmental cooperation project between China and Singapore after the China Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park and the China Singapore Tianjin Eco City.

The cooperation between the two parties has quickly yielded results in the field of logistics. In September 2017, as a train departed from Chongqing Tuanjie Village Central Station, a new land sea corridor emerged within the framework of the China Singapore Interconnection Project. The channel is centered around Chongqing and integrates railway, sea, and road transportation through key nodes such as Guangxi, Guizhou, Gansu, Qinghai, and Xinjiang. It travels southward through the Beibu Gulf of Guangxi to Southeast Asia and the world, significantly reducing the time it takes to set sail from the eastern coastal areas.

In just a few years, this trade route that connects the Silk Road Economic Belt to the north and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road to the south has become a model for China and neighboring countries to jointly explore and achieve win-win cooperation. Along the new land sea corridor, specialty products such as Thai durian, Laotian glutinous rice, and Cambodian bananas can enter China more quickly; China is also collaborating with Laos to build a modern agricultural industrial park project, and exploring a Sino Cambodian banana industrial park project with Cambodia to share the development dividends together.

Nowadays, the cargo transportation categories of the Western Land Sea New Corridor trains have expanded to 1316, covering dozens of major categories such as electronic products, complete vehicles and parts, machinery, food, etc., reaching 577 ports in 127 countries and regions worldwide, with a total volume of nearly 5 million TEUs.

Chen Jiehao, Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information and Health of Singapore, stated that the Land Sea New Corridor is not only a logistics channel, but also an important platform for promoting regional integration, digital innovation, green development, and financial interconnection. ASEAN and China are each other's largest trading partners, and the new land sea channel will nurture more opportunities for cross-border trade and financing.

The construction of trade corridors is just the beginning. Based on the China Singapore Interconnection Project, China and Singapore will also expand the project achievements to the cooperation of the Lancang Mekong Cooperation and the Greater Mekong Subregion Mechanism. From the "hard connectivity" of infrastructure to the "soft connectivity" of rules and standards, and then to the "heart connectivity" of cultural exchanges, China and neighboring countries continue to explore the "chain connectivity" of industrial chains, supply chains, innovation chains, and talent chains through the Western Land Sea New Corridor.

In the financial field, over the past 10 years, China and Singapore have cooperated to build diversified cross-border financing channels and achieved multiple pioneering cooperation results. Promoting the implementation of Asia's first outlet real estate investment trust, establishing the first qualified domestic limited partner pilot fund in the central and western regions, and realizing the first digital RMB cross-border settlement... China Singapore financial cooperation has successively implemented 74 open innovation policies.

Liang Xinsong, Deputy Governor of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, said that finance is an important driving force for the China Singapore connectivity project. In the future, China's western region and ASEAN can further deepen cooperation in forward-looking areas such as green finance and digital interconnection, improve the quality and breadth of cross-border financial services, and better serve the real economy.

In the field of information and communication, both parties cooperate to open the China Singapore International Data Channel and provide services such as cross-border data security transmission; In the aviation industry, both sides have innovated the bonded aviation material supervision model, and Singapore Changi Airport and Chongqing Airport Group have cooperated to improve the management level of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport... The expansion of cooperation areas has allowed the dividends of interconnectivity to continue to be released to neighboring countries and regions.

Driven by the visa free policy between China and Singapore, citizens can travel more conveniently and have closer cultural exchanges. In 2024, the passenger volume of the Chongqing Xinjiang route reached 252400, a year-on-year increase of 237.3%. The increase in tourist traffic is also driving the growth of retail and service industries. In the first nine months of this year, a total of 2.5 million Chinese tourists arrived in Singapore.

Subramania Bart, founder of Singapore market research firm Huakai Marketing Company and tourism industry analyst, said that Chinese tourists have become an important support for Singapore's tourism economy. From hotels and attractions to airports and community retail, tourist consumption benefits from visa free access, convenient payment, and precise promotion targeting the Chinese market.

Exploring new spaces for cooperation in humanities, science, education, and continuous exchange and mutual learning in modern urban governance...
