9882 trains! China Europe Express at Khorgos Port Reached a New High

Created on 01.19
Recently, the railway department of Xinjiang has received good news. In 2025, 9882 China Europe (Central Asia) trains will be operated at Khorgos railway port, with a year-on-year growth of 13.2%. The cargo volume is 14.237 million tons, with a year-on-year growth of 17.8%, which strongly drives the economic and social development of Xinjiang.
Innovation empowerment enables efficient clearance of trains. In recent years, with the deepening of the joint construction of the "Belt and Road", economic and trade exchanges between China and the participating countries are increasingly close, and the logistics demand is also growing rapidly. To ensure the smooth operation of China-Europe freight trains, the railway department in Xinjiang actively collaborates with customs and innovatively implements the reform of "smart railway port + local fast customs clearance." Through the application of new technologies such as the "digital port" system and intelligent map review, intelligent document declaration has been achieved, greatly improving customs clearance efficiency. The railway department has also proactively integrated customs supervision into the operational process, and with the assistance of service windows and green channels, realized "inspection and release upon arrival" for trains. Concurrently, a daily communication mechanism has been established with the railway department of Kazakhstan to coordinate and optimize transportation plans, ensuring smooth cross-border connections. This has effectively reduced train clearance times and shortened the transit time for imported goods from 2-3 days to within 16 hours, a reduction of 70%. The operation time for locally exported goods has been reduced from 6 hours to 1 hour.
High frequency traffic promotes the leap of hub energy level. Xinjiang is located on the northwest border, and although it has abundant resources, it was previously limited by its geographical location and had difficulty fully participating in international trade. However, with the deepening of the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" Initiative and the rapid rise of China-Europe regular trains, Khorgos Railway Port Station has gradually become a key node of the western corridor. At present, the daily average traffic volume of the China-Europe (Central Asia) train at the port is over 27 trains, and the replacement work of one inbound and outbound China-Europe train is completed every 2 hours on average. Together with the Alashankou Port Station, it contributes more than 50% of the national China-Europe train traffic volume. With the increasing number of train services, not only are more and more daily necessities, mechanical and electrical equipment, agricultural and sideline products and other "Made in China" choosing to move from Xinjiang railway ports to Central Asian and European markets, but also attracting industries such as automobile assembly and electronic product processing to gather around the ports, promoting the transformation of "channel economy" to "port economy" and "industrial economy", making Xinjiang an international logistics and trade hub that radiates Asia and Europe.
Benefiting people's livelihoods and unleashing regional development dividends. The operation of the China Europe freight train has also effectively served the development of people's livelihoods. Honey and camel milk from Central Asia, high-end industrial products from Europe, red wine, handicrafts and other international commodities can enter China with the return train conveniently, flowing into thousands of households in China and enriching people's daily lives. The various duty-free shops at the port are filled with a dazzling array of goods from around the world that come with the return train, attracting countless tourists to visit and shop locally every year. Not only that, various agricultural and sideline products produced locally in Xinjiang can also be quickly exported to Central Asian countries through the "green channel" established at the port with the train, achieving "morning picking, afternoon clearance, and next day listing". This not only allows Xinjiang's characteristic agricultural products to steadily seize the Central Asian market, but also helps farmers increase their income and become prosperous.
The outstanding achievements of Khorgos Railway Port are not only a breakthrough in figures, but also a vivid manifestation of the railway sector's efficient service to promote the economic and social development of Xinjiang, which provides a steady stream of railway power to promote the high-quality development of Xinjiang and ensure the stability of the global supply chain.
