Walmart's global e-commerce opened to international sellers in 2021, with sites launched in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Chile, making it the second-largest e-commerce platform in the U.S. To help Chinese sellers better serve global consumers, Walmart's global e-commerce announced a new seller incentive program at the beginning of this year, allowing new sellers who join by 2025 to enjoy a total of up to $75,000 in platform incentive policies.
Walmart's global e-commerce related person in charge stated that Chengdu, as the only city in the western region with a cross-border e-commerce transaction volume exceeding 100 billion, has active sellers and diverse industrial clusters, making it a gateway hub in Southwest China. In the future, Walmart's global e-commerce plans to build Chengdu into an operational hub for industrial belts in the southwestern region.
Walmart's Vice President of Global E-commerce International Division, Michelle Mi, stated that the opening of the Chengdu office is one of the important achievements of the entire team’s efforts in the local market over the past few years, and it marks a new beginning for Walmart's global e-commerce investment in Chengdu, supporting the development of cross-border e-commerce sellers in the Southwest region. "Walmart has been deeply engaged in the retail industry for over 60 years, serving 270 million customers worldwide each week, which has allowed Walmart to accumulate rich experience. We hope to share this experience with sellers and leverage Walmart's omnichannel strategic advantages to provide more possibilities for sellers to expand their business landscape."
